- utilizing both non-invasive and invasive techniques to investigate the human cardiorespiratory system;
- handling human muscle biopsies, including advanced analysis using immunohistochemistry and protein immunoblotting techniques; and
- assessing body composition through methods such as bioimpedance and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA).
High-level expertise in advanced statistical methods for data analysis and interpretation is required.
Additional experience in the assessment of intravascular volumes, blood sampling, and the application of low-pressure chambers in human studies will be considered an advantage.
The candidate must be able to document a strong record of high-quality research, along with teaching and supervision experience at both the bachelor’s and master’s levels. Emphasis will be placed on demonstrated experience and skills in collaborating on research projects with national and international research groups, as well as with sports federations or similar organizations.
It is expected that the successful applicant will take an active role in developing own research at the department but also be willing and able to cooperate across borders of research fields.
The appointee is furthermore expected to participate in the development and teaching of courses on both undergraduate and graduate level and in the supervision of bachelor, master and Ph.D. students.
Selection Criteria
When assessing applicants, emphasis will be placed on:
- Quality, relevance and scope of the scientific work
- Relevance and scope of teaching and supervision at bachelor, master and Ph.D. level
- Experience and skills in research involving external collaboration
- Other documented qualifications relevant to the position, such as the ability to attract external funding and public dissemination of the research
- The applicants interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in oral and written English is required. Applicants who do not have adequate proficiency in a Scandinavian language, must acquire Norwegian skills corresponding to at least level B2 within three years of commencement.
A prerequisite for permanent appointment is that the applicant meets the requirements for university teaching competence. Applicants without formal university pedagogic qualification, is given the opportunity for an approved course within two years employment.

Working Conditions
- Salary is offered according to the Norwegian State pay scale, employment code 1011, on a scale from NOK 765 000 to NOK 860 000 yearly. For particularly well-qualified candidates, a higher salary may be considered.
