About the position
We look for an experienced bike mechanic for the bike and ski workshop connected to the bike rental centre. For the right candidate a permanent position is available.
We can offer a position that combines work tasks in the workshop with direct customer service in the rental center or guiding bike, ski and snowshoe trip for interested candidates, or focus on work in the workshop as the only type of work.
Work responsibilities include
responsibility for maintenance and assembling rental bikes (we have in stock primarily touring bikes and e-bikes, but also mtb-, road-, and fat- bikes)
service of bikes delivered for repair by customers,
during winter season majority of tasks will be related to maintenance of other equipment from Tromsø Outdoor offer, especially touring and cross country skis (training and instructions will be provided to candidates who miss experience in the field)
occasionally help at Tromsø Outdoor rental center (eg. renting the bikes out, advising our guests on local activities destinations, keeping order in the shop and workshop)
administrative work connected to the workshop, customer care, ordering parts, stock control, communication with the customers.
Required competencies and personal qualities
professional experience and extensive knowledge in bike mechanics
good communication and English language skills
basic level computer skills
driving license is an advantage but is not necessary
Norwegian language proficiency is an advantage but is not necessary
attachment to the details and being used to organize workplace
valid permission to work and live in Norway or EU citizenship
positive, creative and solution-oriented attitude
enjoying and used to working in a flexible international environment
being used to working independently and taking responsibility for work tasks
experience in ski service will be a big advantage.
Working Scheme
Variable shifts between 8:00 and 18:00, usually 7.5 hours daily, planned in advance.
100 % position seasonal project position- ca.37.5 h/week, we can offer work with flexible time frames.
Work start: Flexible, preferably September 2025.
Part-time position can be offered to interested candidates with relevant experience, conditions to discuss.
We can provide the opportunity to join schooling organized by our bike and ski suppliers.

Tromsø Outdoor AS has been providing professional guiding and rental services in the Tromsø area since 2006.
In 2017 we decided to develop a bike and ski workshop in addition to servicing our own rental equipment, and started offering repair services to local customers in Tromsø.
We are a team inspired by Norwegian nature and cultural values. We work to develop a professional community where we can improve our skills and performance.
Our main focus is on service quality, local cooperation and creating a good working environment within the company. In the winter our team consists of 30 people from over 15 countries - 16 of them are permanent employees.
