BACKGROUND AND JOB DESCRIPTION:

Are you looking to work outside, stay active, and meet interesting customers from all around the world? Then Viking Biking & Hiking is a perfect place for you. Our international staff is inclusive and ready to welcome new guides for the 2025 season (May-September). We are looking to hire 4-5 new guides, for part-time positions anywhere between 25-75% which equates to 10-25 hours per week depending on the candidates' availability. Candidates should be available to start in late May or early June for paid training.

With more than 12 years of experience, Viking Biking & Hiking has become one of the best-known tour operators in Oslo. Our two most popular tours are the Oslo Highlights bike tour and the Island Hopping nature walk, and those two tours will be the main routes new guides will be trained to do.

An average tour is 4 hours, with the earliest starting around 8:30 and the latest ones ending at 18:30. Weekend hours are expected and common. Guides will be asked to work either one or two tours per day.

Training is included and paid: 35-40 hours before starting to guide, plus on-going training throughout the summer for first-year guides.

Starting salary is generally around 220 kroner per hour plus "feriepenger". If the candidate has an "enkeltpersonforetak", billing rate is generally around 60-70 kroner per hour more, depending on the candidate's experience. Tips are common and often add about 25 kroner per hour to the salary, although that can vary from day-to-day and group-to-group.

REQUIREMENTS

* All candidates must have lived at least 2 years in the Oslo region.

* Fully fluent English is required as it is the main language used in guiding.

* Knowledge of Norwegian is required, but not fluency (A2 level is enough). A 3rd European language is also beneficial, in particular German, Dutch or French.

* Guiding experience is not required, but is a plus. Experience in the hospitality sector can replace lack of guiding experience (tourism, museums, restaurants, bars, hotels, activities, etc.).

* Candidates must be active and a good level of fitness is required for this outdoor and active job.

* Out-going and enjoys performing in front of audiences/groups.
