UiT - The Arctic University of Norway, is recruiting a full time Professor/Associate Professor affiliated with the Clinical pharmacy and Pharmacoepidemiology research group at the Department of Pharmacy.
The workplace is at UiT in Tromsø. You must be able to start in the position within 6 months after receiving the offer.
The Department of Pharmacy has six research groups: Cell Signaling and Targeted Therapy, Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacoepidemiology, Drug Transport and Delivery, Natural Products and Medicinal Chemistry, , Computational Pharmacology, and Microbial Pharmacology and Population Biology. The Department of Pharmacy has approximately 20 permanent scientific positions, and a variable number of PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and part time positions. The department is responsible for educating bachelor- and master students in pharmacy.
The IPSUM (Identification and Prevention of Suboptimal Use of Medication) research group consists of three professors, three associate professors, one statistician in permanent positions, and perform research within pharmacy practice, clinical pharmacy, and pharmacoepidemiology to identify suboptimal use of medications and promote appropriate medication use. Our projects range from pharmacoepidemiological studies utilizing data from national registries to patient-centered studies aimed at identifying medication-related problems and devising solutions. Additionally, we conduct interdisciplinary intervention studies to optimize medical treatment of the patient, and we delve into health economics to establish models for cost savings in healthcare. Our research methodology encompasses a blend of quantitative and qualitative approaches.
The successful applicant is expected to contribute to research, supervision and teaching mainly in clinical pharmacy and/or social pharmacy, pharmacotherapy and pharmacy practice.
The position is assigned course leader responsibility at both bachelor's and master's level, and teaching and supervision mainly within clinical pharmacy and pharmacotherapy, but also to assist with teaching in epidemiology/pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacy practice.
The appointed person has a duty to participate in the teaching of all students at the Faculty of Health Sciences and must be willing to take part in ongoing development of their own subject and discipline for the university. New research projects should be initiated within the research group's and the institute's strategic focus areas.
Qualification requirements for the position as Associate Professor

Independent research after PhD shall be documented with scientific publications without PhD-supervisors as co-authors.
Experience with applications for external research funding means that the applicant can show independent application work but may not necessarily have obtained external funding. Evaluations that show application quality will be useful for assessing applicants' qualifications. Contributions to larger applications can also be considered if the contribution is documented.
International mobility will be assessed according to duration / number of stays and whether the stay has led to scientific publications and/or joint applications for external research funding.
Scientific cooperation, nationally and/or internationally, should be documented through joint publications and/or application work.
At UiT we put emphasis on the quality, relevance and significance of the research work and not on where the work is published, in accordance with the principles of The San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA).
The position requires proficiency in a Scandinavian language equivalent to level B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). New employees who do not fulfil the language criteria by appointment is required, within three years, to demonstrate sufficient proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language. Arrangements will be made to facilitate the completion of Norwegian courses.

If the pedagogical competence can be acquired within two years of appointment, applicants shall not be ranked based on pedagogical competence.
Those who do not satisfy the requirements may be appointed on a permanent basis on the condition that they satisfy the requirements within two years of appointment.
For professor positions, experience with teaching and supervision in higher education corresponding to three years in a full-time position is required. For professor positions, the teaching competence can be developed and documented through a combination of courses and teaching portfolio. If there are no fully qualified applicants for a permanent position, an interim appointment may be made for a period of one year in a lower position.

The allocation of working hours is flexible and allocated on a case-by-case basis. In general, Professor/Associate Professors will spend an equal amount of time on teaching and research and development work, after time spent on other duties has been deducted. As a norm, the time resources spent on administrative duties constitutes 5 % for academic staff.
The remuneration for Professor is in accordance with the State salary scale code 1013. The remuneration for Associate Professor is in accordance with the State salary scale code 1011.
